Who we are

Safety Eye provides onsite monitoring hardware and software, including our heavy duty camera bollards, for construction sites, developments and other locations across Kent, London and the South East.

Safety Eye is the data controller responsible for your personal data. Our details are below, and this policy explains what we collect, why, and what rights you have over it.

What we collect and why

We only collect what we need to answer your enquiry, put a quote together, deliver our hire service, and keep the site running properly. Here’s a breakdown of what that covers.

Enquiries and hire quotes

When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number and message. When you request a hire quote, we also collect what you’re securing, where the site is, how many units you need, and your preferred start date and hire length. We use this to reply to you, put together an accurate quote, and set up your hire if you go ahead.

Newsletter sign-ups

If you sign up to our “Stay in the loop” updates in the site footer, we collect your email address and add it to our mailing list through Brevo, our email platform, so we can send occasional updates on new services and site security tips. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or by contacting us directly.

Cookies and site analytics

We use cookies and similar tools, including Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, to see how visitors use our site and keep it secure. Full details, including what each cookie does and how long it lasts, are in our Cookie Policy.

Keeping forms secure

Our enquiry and quote forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that submissions come from a real person rather than automated spam. This runs a quick check in the background and doesn’t collect any personal data beyond what’s needed to confirm you’re not a bot.

If you hire our equipment

If you hire a Safety Eye unit, the cameras record video of your site and generate alerts, stored locally on the unit and in the cloud as described on our product pages. In this relationship, you (our customer) control what’s recorded and why, so you’re generally responsible for operating the system in line with data protection law, including telling people on site that CCTV is in use. We act on your behalf to store and protect that footage, in line with the retention period agreed in your hire contract, and our staff only access it to provide support, maintain the equipment or resolve a fault.

Our basis for using your data

We rely on a few different legal grounds, depending on what we’re doing with your information.

• Contract: to respond to your enquiry, prepare a quote, and deliver the hire service you’ve asked for.
• Consent: for newsletter sign-ups and any non-essential cookies, which you can withdraw at any time.
• Legitimate interests: to keep our site secure, understand how it’s used, and improve our service, in ways that don’t override your own rights and interests.
• Legal obligation: where we need to keep records for accounting, tax or other legal requirements.

Who we share your data with

We don’t sell your personal data. We share it only with the services that help us run the site and our business, including our website hosting provider, Fluent Forms (which powers our contact and quote forms), Google Workspace and Brevo (for email), Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity (for site analytics), and Cloudflare (for form security). Each of these only processes your data to provide their service to us.

We may also share information if we’re legally required to, for example in response to a valid request from a regulator or law enforcement, or where necessary to protect our rights, property or safety.

How long we keep your data

We don’t keep personal data longer than we need to. Enquiry and quote details are kept for as long as it takes to deal with your request and for a reasonable period afterwards for our own records. Where we’ve entered into a hire agreement with you, we keep the related records for as long as we’re legally required to, generally in line with the six year period HMRC expects for UK business records, then delete or anonymise them. Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe. CCTV footage from hired units is kept for the period agreed in your hire contract.

Keeping your data secure

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the personal data we hold, including secure hosting, encrypted form submissions, and restricting access to the people who need it to do their job. No system is completely risk free, but we take this seriously and keep our approach under review.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

• Ask us what personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it
• Ask us to correct anything that’s inaccurate or incomplete
• Ask us to delete your data, where we don’t have a good reason to keep it
• Ask us to restrict or stop processing your data in certain circumstances
• Object to us using your data for direct marketing at any time
• Ask for your data in a portable format, where technically possible

Children’s privacy

Our website and services are aimed at businesses and site managers, not children. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we start using a new tool or change how we handle enquiries. We’ll update the date at the top of this page whenever we do.
